Michele Gutrick

Michele Gutrick, soprano, graduated with honors from the University of Maryland, College Park with a Master of Music in Opera Performance. While pursuing her Master's degree, she was a member of the Maryland Opera Studio and performed the roles of Pamina (Die Zauberflöte) and Adina (L’Elisir d’amore). She has participated in masterclasses with Renata Scotto, Sherril Milnes, and Roberta Peters. A regular performer with the Washington Opera, she made her company debut as a Handmaiden in Turandot. She has also covered the role of Frasquita in Washington and traveled with the company on their tour to Japan.

For the fifth year, the Millennium Stage brings together Japanese and American cultures as it hosts the Official Opening Ceremony of The National Cherry Blossom Festival including appearances by Shizumi’s Kodomo Dance Troupe, music by American composers and a grand finale showcasing exciting spectacles from Japan’s Dai Dengaku.
