Hewar

A Syrian quintet who will perform a concert called "Common Grounds" in a night of Arabic music influenced by classical, jazz and Eastern European traditions. Hewar's program includes an original composition by Kinan Azmeh dedicated to the late Dr. Edward W. Said. Hewar's members are: Issam Rafea (oud) and Dima Orsho (soprano) from Damascus; Kinan Azmeh (clarinet) of the Juilliard School in New York; Kinan Abu-Afash (cello); and Omar Al-Musfi (percussion) from Chicago.
