Ron Holloway

A Washington, DC native, saxophonist Ron Holloway was raised in a household where listening to jazz was a favorite pastime. At 13 he was introduced to the alto saxophone and after three months switched to the larger tenor saxophone. His musical influences include Sonny Rollins, John Coltrane, and Miles Davis.In 1977 he joined the alternative rocker, Rootboy Slim's band, where he was an active member until 1987. Overlapping that time, he also played with a funk band called Osiris, which was based in Washington.
