Jazz and the New Generation

Who are the new generation of musicians about to become tomorrow’s well-known performers? Dr. Billy Taylor presents this talented group of high school and college jazz musicians, already winners of jazz competitions across the country, in a program of performance, demonstration, and discussion. These young musicians perform compositions by Dr. Billy Taylor and other favorites from the jazz repertoire, discuss how they became award-winning jazz musicians, and share their thoughts on the jazz of the future. Maurice Brown, trumpeter, is a native of Harvey, Illinois who began playing trumpet in junior high school.
