The Doron Johnson Jazz Trio
Tedd Baker, saxophonist, born in Binghamton, New York, in 1974, graduated with a BM in Jazz Performance from the New England Conservatory, and he will receive an MA from Queens College this year. He has performed at clubs and cafes in New York, Boston, and New Orleans. Baker has participated in the Whalin Blues Festival (New Bedford, Massachusetts); the Maine Arts First Night Festivities (Portland); and the Smoky Mountain Summer Fest (Salina, Kansas).
Micahel Blanco, acoustic bassist and electric guitarist, was born in San Diego, California, in 1976. He graduated with a BM in Jazz Studies from the University of North Texas. Blanco has performed extensively in the New York City area with such artists as Roberta Picket, Billy Mintz, Roy Hargrove, and the Jamie Begian Big Band, and he appears regularly with the John Chin Trio, the Robert Gomez Trio, the Alan Ferber Sextet, and the Matt Otto Quartet. He can also be heard on albums with the One OÆClock Lab Band, the Rob G y Los LPs Latin Ensemble, and Hunter Sullivan.
Doron Johnson, pianist and keyboardist, was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in 1975. He received a BA from Berklee College of Music, and an MM and Artist Diploma from the New England Conservatory of Music, both in Boston, Massachusetts. Johnson has toured in Argentina, Chile, Peru, and Jamaica. He was a USIA Jazz Ambassador in 1999, when he toured Pakistan, Kuwait, Bangladesh, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt. His recordings include Strideways and Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz Performance. Johnson is a professor of American Music History at the Hudson Community College in Jersey City, New Jersey.
