Kathleen Lague grew up performing in musical theatre and was classically trained. She left the Midwest for New York where she has performed, modeled, and acted in an independent film "Basement Love" whose soundtrack features several of her songs. The first thing that comes to mind when you see Kathleen LaGue live is "stage presence." Renowned for her cat-like confidence and take-me-or-leave-me attitude, LaGue's knack for showmanship and great work ethic keeps her climbing ever higher in the pop/rock community. Having made her musical national television debut on CNN's SHOWBIZ TODAY this summer, as well as being named a national finalist for ROXYGEN ON OXYGEN (a female fronted band search by Oprah's TV channel), and numerous internet features, her musical future continues to brighten! With 230,000 downloads to date from her MP3.COM site, the internet has served to expose thousands of fans worlwide to her music. Her critically acclaimed self-titled debut CD on Lioness Records (her own label) has created quite a stir among industry types and music fans alike. Her timely melting pot of pop, rock and funk frames her powerful voice and personal lyrics like a modern masterpiece. Performances at The VooDoo Music Festival(sharing the bill with Counting Crows, Live, and Stone Temple Pilots), Dancin in the District with John Hiatt, The Kennedy Center in DC, and singing the national anthem at the Caps Hockey Game continue to expose her to an even wider audience.
Kathleen grew up in Kansas in the middle of a large family of eight, where singing was a part of growing up. LaGue got her start in choir, theatre and classical training in school. After graduating cume laude with a psychology and art degree, she left her native Kansas for the concrete jungle of NYC, and "joined the first rock band she could find". En route to sustaining a permanent place in her field of choice, LaGue juggled modeling, acting, and singing in show bands in order to make her dream come true (she has starred in numerous TV commercials, prime-time TV, and national print ads). Writing and performing her own music, though, is "where it's at" for Kathleen, and after a five year stint in Nashville she moves on to Los Angeles this summer. If recent success is any indication, she'll be around for quite some time to come.
