The Klezmatics

PBS viewers will know The Klezmatics from their Emmy Award-winning special with violinist Itzhak Perlman, In The FiddlerÆs House. Their accompanying CD has since topped World and Classical music charts internationally, becoming one of the top-selling folk albums of the past decade. Alicia Svigals is a classically trained violinist with a degree in ethnomusicology from Brown University. Named ôBest Instrumentalistö at the Fifth Annual Festival of Klezmer Music in Safed, Israel, Svigals is a leading specialist in traditional East European Jewish violin style. Svigals is also a player of Greek fiddle music and has toured, recorded and composed for some of GreeceÆs most famous artists.
