La India

La India is a salsa superstar whose career took off in 1992, after she achieved crossover success with Lleg= La India (India Has Arrived). The album, recorded with Latin jazz and salsa star Eddie Palmieri and produced by Little Louie Vega and Jellie Bean Benitez, included No. 1 Billboard Chart hits such as Love and Happiness, Ride on the Rhythm, and Beautiful People. Now one of the most exciting of salsa performers, India's album Dicen Que Soy (RMM label) also put hits in the top ten list including the title tune and Vivir lo Nuestro, and achieved quadruple platinum status in worldwide sales. Her latest album, Jazzin', came about when the late Tito Puente approached the Count Basie estate with the idea of producing an album in tribute to the Basie sound.
