Lama Lo!

The klezmer Lama Lo! (Why Not!) ensemble was founded in 1999 in Jerusalem, Israel, by musicians from the former USSR. In July 2000 the ensemble participated in the Tsfat Festival of Klezmer Music. It was enthusiastically received by the general public as well as the festival organizers and was declared “The Discovery of the Festival.” The ensemble’s performance was recorded and broadcast by Israeli radio and TV. In September 2000 the ensemble was awarded an honorable diploma of the 3rd International Moscow Festival of Jewish Culture, and in December of the same year the ensemble won second prize in the Tel-Aviv Ethnic Music Competition.
