Lena and Sanford Markley

Lena and Sanford Markley’s sound personifies the magical blend and natural tight phrasing of sibling harmonies. Drawing from a wealth of Sanford’s compelling original songs, their engaging stage presence and soaring harmonies have been captivating audiences for nearly two decades. They began singing in coffeehouses and talent showcases while still in high school, before forming the nucleus of the popular band Brandywine, which played to standing room only audiences at clubs in Washington, DC. A singer of extraordinary emotional range, Lena has a voice that is at once powerful and graceful, allowing her to play both the wide-eyed innocent and the saucy barroom diva convincingly. Her expressive sound blends with Sanford’s warm and direct voice, creating sparkling, soulful harmonies.
