Mary Ann Redmond

Singer/songwriter Mary Ann Redmond was described as “an exciting vocal talent” in a Billboard magazine article that went on to say “….Redmond is wowing club audiences as a completely formed stylist, who can sing heartfelt ballads and funky tunes with equal ease and enthusiasm in an alto voice that soars effortlessly to soprano range.” Further recognition came just weeks later, when she was awarded the first of 13 prestigious “Wammies” (Washington Area Music Association Awards). In November, 1995, Redmond received five Wammies for Best Female Vocalist in the categories of Blues, Rock/Pop, Roots Rock/R&B, Urban Contemporary, as well as recognition for Best Urban Contemporary Album. Redmond studied voice at Virginia Commonwealth University, while also performing in nightclubs in and around Richmond.
