The Melanie Mason Band

According to William Triplett of Washingtonian Magazine, the Melanie Mason Band is “a hot blues-rock group fronted by a woman who sings and plays lead guitar–a new generation of Washington musicians beginning to wow crowds.” Mason's dynamic band includes Sam Goodall on bass, Torro Gamble on drums and Gary Gilpin on keys/organ. In 2002, Mason's debut CD, “Bendin' the Blues,” won a Blues Recording WAMMIE award from the Washington Area Music Association (WAMA). Over the past two years, “Bendin' the Blues” has been the top-selling blues album on CD Baby, a popular online source for independent music. This summer, Mason appears on WETA in blues guitar TV spots to promote PBS’ Martin Scorsese film The Blues.
