Mingo Saldivar

With a career that spans over four decades, Mingo Saldivar is a two time Grammy Nominee and a recipient of the prestigious National Heritage Award from the NEA. A Texas native, born in 1936, on the outskirts of San Antonio, Mr. Saldivar was playing the drums and guitar by the early age of 11. Just a year later he learned the upright- bass (tololoché), and then he mastered the button accordion. Presented in cooperation with íViva Mexico!: Washington, DC Celebrates, a city-wide collaboration between DC area cultural institutions, the Mexican Cultural Institute, and the Embassy of Mexico.
