Modern Innovators

Sean Curran's Metal Garden (2001) is peformed to the percussion music of composer Tigger Benford, originally for Curran;s NY based company, and restaged for students of Mountclair State University, NJ. Mikey Thomas created DEBT (2002) for the students of The University of Southern Mississippi. The dance makes statement on the accumulation of properties and relationships and is performed in costumes constructed entirely of discarded umbrella nylons from the streets of New York,, and especially lower Manhattan, collected during several weeks in the Fall of 2001 . John Jasperse's Clear Field (2001-02) is performed by students of Sarah Lawrence College to the music of Michael Floyd. The dance deals with various notions of instability and indecision.
