Natacha Atlas

The ancestry of the Belgian-born belly-dancing singer Natacha Atlas is Egyptian, Palestinian, and Moroccan. Atlas spends as much time as possible in Cairo, strengthening her bonds with her roots, immersing herself in shaabi, Egypt’s indigenous blue-sy pop music. On her sixth solo release, “Something Dangerous,” Atlas features a duet with Sinead O’Connor, and she has sung with dozens of bands including Jah Wobble, Talvin Singh, Nitin Sawhney, Banco de Gaia, and the Indigo Girls. Atlas has also been featured in films such as The Truth About Charlie, Stargate, and Die Another Day.
