Orchestre d’Auvergne

Created in November 1981 at the initiative of the Town of Clermont-Ferrand, the Regional Council of Auvergne and the Ministry for Culture, the Orchestre d’Auvergne is a cosmopolitan collection of 21 musicians who hail from France, England, Bulgaria, Japan, and the Czech Republic. Performing 100 concerts a year, the orchestra has toured Spain, Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, the U.S., Korea, and Japan, and performed in such prestigious venues as Munich’s Herkulessal, Tokyo’s Orchard Hall, Madrid’s National Auditorium, Seoul’s Ho-Am Arts Hall, New York’s Metropolitan Museum, Geneva’s Victoria Hall, and Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw. The orchestra has been directed by an international roster of conductors such as: Roberto Benzi, Jean Fournet, Leopold Hager, Philippe Herreweghe, Emmanuel Krivine, Jean-Jacques Kantorow, Jerzy Maksymiuk, Jean-Claude Malgoire and others.
