Peter Siegel

Political singer/songwriter Peter Siegel, born in the New York City suburbs, was inspired by the likes of his parents, his politically-active grandparents, Phil Ochs, Run DMC, Pete Seeger, Miles Davis, The Beatles, Looney Tunes, Led Zeppelin, and old time music. He became a member of the trio, The Harmonious Hogchokers, who sang original and traditional songs of political and environmental significance around New York’s Hudson Valley. More recently he’s been a mainstay of the traditional dance scene of the Pioneer Valley of Western Mass., playing contra dances and concerts, and with David Kaynor and the Greenfield Dance Band, upstate New York’s Beverwyck String Band, and The Clefhangers. He has toured throughout the United States and played his songs on WAMC’s Dancing on the Air with Jay Ungar and Molly Mason, WFCR’s Valley Folk, and festivals from Clearwater’s Great Hudson River Revival to The Dance Flurry in Saratoga, NY; Falcon Ridge Folk Festival to The New England Folk Festival, and The Old Songs Festival as well.
