The Georgetown Phantoms: Back in 1988, when Top-40, big hair, and bangle bracelets were the biggest fads, a group of somewhat musically endowed Georgetown students had a dream. Georgetown had the all-male Chimes and the all-female Gracenotes, but never had there been men and women singing together. Enter Huey-Jin Soon, our founder.The Georgetown Phantoms: Back in 1988, when Top-40, big hair, and bangle bracelets were the biggest fads, a group of somewhat musically endowed Georgetown students had a dream. Georgetown had the all-male Chimes and the all-female Gracenotes, but never had there been men and women singing together. Enter Huey-Jin Soon, our founder. She brought that intrepid bunch together to sing Christmas carols around campus for the holiday season. In Red Square, on Healy steps, at the hospital... Before long,a passing Jesuit said, "You just show up everywhere...like a group of Phantoms." And so, the Phantom Singers emerged from the shadows and became Georgetown's first coed a cappella group.
