Phat Alpert

Veterans of the Washington, DC music scene, Zack Smith and Dan Haverstock have been developing Phat Alpert for more than two years, though the actual band did have its first performance until 2002. As the leading Herb Alpert Repertory Ensemble, the group attempts to channel the spiritual karma which drove Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass to the top of the pop music world in the mid 60’s through the early 70’s. Their repertoire consists of classic TJB material, post TJB material, and some pop tunes Herb never had a chance to cover but should have. Zack Smith is best known for his trumpet work with the Dixie Power Trio, a nationally recognized New Orleans variety band. Dan Haverstock plays trombone, trumpet, and keyboard with Phat Alpert and writes many of the group’s arrangements.
