Piano Duo of Rio

Sonia Maria Vieira and Maria Helena de Andrade are collectively known as the Piano Duo of Rio. With masterÆs degrees in music, they are prize-winning pianists who have various records to their credit. They are also soloists, chamber musicians, professors and conference participants. Vieira is the former Dean of the School of Music of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, and Andrade is the former Artistic Director of Pro-Arte of Rio de Janeiro. The duoÆs varied and eclectic repertoire ranges from baroque to contemporary, and Vieira and Andrade have given the world premieres of a number of contemporary Brazilian compositions.
