Darryl Purpose

Frequently compared to Harry Chapin, the young Bob Dylan, and James Taylor, Darryl Purpose made his solo debut in 1996 and is now regarded as one of folk musicÆs fastest rising singer/songwriters. His success is based on his sophisticated guitar playing, a smooth baritone voice, and an ability to tell a story. His finger-picking guitar style is robust and intricate and has earned him a Taylor Guitar endorsement. His voice has been called ôhypnotic, a rare gift.ö Purpose has been a finalist in the 1996 National Academy of MusicÆs Artist of the Year competition; a First Place Winner in the 1996 Napa Valley Music Festival Showcase; and a First Place Winner in OregonÆs 1997 Sisters Folk Festival Songwriter Contest.
