The Radio King Orchestra (The Kennedy Center)

The Radio King Orchestra

One of Washington's most exciting and elegant dance bands, the Radio King Orchestra heralds the New Year with today's Millennium Stage performance and returns for this evening's 2002 Grand Foyer Party. The Big Band has also performed in the Kennedy Center's Concert Hall and the Carter Barron Amphitheatre, as well as at weddings, parties, and corporate functions. Drawing on the talents of musicians from the Washington metropolitan area, the band recreates the magic of yesteryear. Glenn Miller, Count Basie, Ella Fitzgerald, Benny Goodman and Frank Sinatra are but a few of the artists this band celebrates. The arrangements, performed as originally recorded by the big band artists, stress acoustical dynamics, superior vocals, and "toe-tapping" rhythms.
