Robin and Linda Williams

Both children of the South, Robin and Linda Williams met in the early 1970s and began their musical partnership in the creative underground of songwritersÆ nights and open stages in Nashville. 1975 saw the release of their first album and the beginning of a long-time association with Garrison Keillor and his ôPrairie Home Companionö radio show. When the show went national in 1980, regular appearances as featured performers and as part of the Hopeful Gospel Quartet (with Keillor and Kate MacKenzie) provided them with steady exposure to an audience of millions. Moving from the hubbub of Nashville to the calmer environs of VirginiaÆs Shenandoah Valley, they developed a loyal circuit of performance venues while releasing a series of critically-acclaimed albums over the next decade. The Williams toured in 1993 with country artist Mary Chapin Carpenter and appeared on her Grammy-winning album, ôStones In The Road.
