Ofri Eliaz and Sahar Ensemble (The Kennedy Center)

Ofri Eliaz and Sahar Ensemble

In "the Golden Age," a performance of Hebrew and Ladino ancient prayers and traditional songs, the Sahar Ensemble, with Ofri Eliaz, offers a rare look into the lives of an intriguing cultural group. The four musicians of the Ofri Eliaz and Sahar Ensemble interpret the ancient prayers and traditional songs of Spain's Sephardic Jews, singing in both Hebrew and Ladino (the medieval dialect of Spanish spoken by the Sephardim). Playing on traditional instruments, but with an Israeli twist, they offer a unique and delightful blend of East and West.
