Shizumi

Exploring the Arts of Japan is a multi-media cultural performing arts presentation by Japanese artist Shizumi Manale. Shizumi Manale distills over 2000 years of Japanese dance, theater, music and literature in performances and workshops. Her programs incorporate the ancient Noh and Kyogen theater traditions, Japanese fans, Samurai swordsmanship, calligraphy, the art of the Kimono, poems, and elements of a traditional tea ceremony. Her audiences experience the grace, strength and humor of traditional and modern Japanese theater, and learn about the cultural connections between Japan and China, Korea and India. Recent performance highlights include the Van Gogh Foundation in Amsterdam, the Smithsonian, and the globally-televised White House Millennium Project.
