Douglas Irvine is the artistic director of Visible Fictions. He has directed many productions for the company, including Jason and the Argonauts, which has frequently toured the United States, Canada, and Australia (including a run at The Kennedy Center in 2008); Shopping for Shoes, which has toured across the United States, Canada, Ireland, and Germany; Curse of the Demeter (a site-responsive piece on The Tall Ship in Glasgow); Peter Pan, a co-production with the Children's Theatre Company, which ran in Minneapolis and then toured to various theaters across Ireland and the United Kingdom; and The Mark of Zorro. He also co-created Bill's New Frock and The Red Balloon, both of which toured the United States and Canada extensively. Most recently he directed the large-scale, outdoor production Cargo with Iron Oxide and the Edinburgh Mela; Clockwork, a co-production with Scottish Opera, the country's national opera company; and The Hunted.
