Si Kahn

Si Kahn has worked for almost 35 years as a civil rights, labor and community organizer and musician in the Southern United States. His songs of family, community, work and freedom have been recorded by more than 100 other artists in North America and Europe. He is currently executive director of Grassroots Leadership, a multi-racial team of organizers who help Southern community and labor organizations think critically, work strategically and take direct action to end oppression, gain power and achieve justice and equity. Kahn is currently Campaign Director for Grassroots LeadershipÆs national coalition to stop for-profit prisons. Kahn began his organizing work with the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) during the Southern Civil Rights Movement.
