Teatro de Danza Contemporanea de El Salvador

EL TEATRO DE DANZA CONTEMPORANEA DE EL SALVADOR (TDC), established in 1994 in San Salvador by Co-Directors Miya Hisaka Silva and Francisco Castillo, is distinctive because it is the first professional repertory dance company in the history of the El Salvador with a diverse repertoire of classical, contemporary and indigenous works. TDC originally united artistic leaders with a common vision for dance as well as the restoration of their country after a 12-year civil war. TDC uses dance as a means to: preserve their history; for self-expression; healing and the development of human dignity; and to present the fundamental values upon which a new Salvadoran society is being built. Their commitment is to a country, to its people and to its unique history with an insistence on artistic excellence. TDC is a Resident Company at Joy of Motion Dance Center; and their Youth Leadership Program, with 91 youths (ages 5-18) is based at the Calvary Bilingual Multicultural Learning Center, both in Washington, DC.
