The Tosheff Piano Duo

Natives from Bulgaria, Ilia Tosheff & Vely Stoyanova started playing professionally as a duo in 1997. Recognized as "brilliant concert artists”, they possess “captivating stage presence, fascinating temperament, charm and spontaneity that grab the audience” They have won numerous honors and highest awards at prestigious international competitions worldwide including twice The Grand Prize in Tokyo (Japan) and Sofia (Bulgaria), three times the First Prize in Rome (Italy), Saragossa (Spain) and Sofia, and recently won the 2003 Web Concert Hall Competition Award (Michigan). In 1998 they were awarded the Award for the Most Promising Young Performers in Groningen (Holland), the Award for High Artistic and Performer’s Achievement in Sofia, nominated for Crowning Achievement in Musical Art at the 1999 Crystal Lyre Music Awards, and honored the 1998 Musician of the Year Award for the most successful debut in Bulgaria.In 2001 they made an acclaimed West European debut with Klassische Philharmonie Bonn (Germany) under the baton of Oliver Leo Schmidt. Their career includes performances in Japan, Germany, The Netherlands, Malta, Italy, Spain, Bulgaria, Switzerland, and the United States.
