The Children of Vallenato

Children of Vallenato The vallenato is a musical genre from Colombia that represents stories and feelings of a country and is the result of the mestizaje. The basic musical instruments to play vallenato have an origin in the mix of the three ethnic groups that are the base of Colombian population: European, African and Indian. In Valledupar, Colombia, where the vallenato was originated, a non-profit organization was created to preserve this traditional music. Over ten years ago, this organization founded a school for vallenato talents where more that 150 children with musical vocation have study the vallenato culture and music. The Children of Vallenato have played in several concerts in Colombia, as well as in Venezuela, Chile, Argentina and the United States.
