Vilar/Domingo Young Artist Program

On March 4, The Washington Opera inaugurated the Vilar / Domingo Young Artist Program designed to support the artistic development of talented young opera singers and coach-accompanists who are on the verge of major careers. Plácido Domingo has selected 11 singers and two coaches to participate in the intensive program, directed by Michelle Krisel, where they will work with world-renowned singers, directors, and coaches to guide them in their transition from singer to artist, and help them build long-lasting and healthy careers. The Young Artists will also have numerous opportunities to perform on the main stage and to take part in development and outreach programs. The Vilar / Domingo Young Artist Program is funded by a 5-year $5 million grant from philanthropist Alberto Vilar. Mr.
