Yann F. Kemener

Vocalist Yann-Fañch Kemener, a musical ethnologist specializing in Kan ha diskan and gwerz traditions, is largely responsible for the revival of the singing tradition in Brittany. Kemener recorded his first LP at the age of 20 and, since then, has recorded the largest discography of singing tradition in Brittany. Besides his solo singing he appears with the band Barzaz. His participation in a son et lumiere show with Kristen Noguès, Jean-Louis Le Vallegant and pianist Didier Squiban led to a collaboration with Squiban to present masterpieces of Breton music. Kemener continues to perform as a soloist or in collaboration with Erik Marchant, Annie Ebrel, Valentine Colleter, Patrick Marie, Ifig Troadeg, and Marcel Guilloux.
