Yasuji Ohagi (The Kennedy Center)

Yasuji Ohagi

Born in 1978 in Miyazaki, Japan, Yasuji Ohagi started playing the guitar at the age of nine under the influence of his mother and the recordings of Australian guitarist John Williams. He publicly announced his intent to become a professional guitarist over his school’s public address system when he was only ten years old. Upon graduating from high school in 1997, he traveled extensively in Europe and that same year he enrolled at L’Ecole Normal de Paris. In 1998 he was accepted with honors at the Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique de Paris. Since completing his guitar study at the Conservatoire in 2001, Yasuji Ohagi has participated in numerous concerts both in France and Japan, including his official debut at the Tokyo Culture Hall in Japan and the National Bank of France in Paris.
