Arena Stage’s Student Ten-Minute Plays

Ten plays selected from this competition were developed over the month of May. This began with two Saturday workshops where the playwrights heard their play read and received feedback from peers and Arena Stage staff. Included in these workshops was discussion of their play with a dramaturge, their own personal director and a production team. A one-hour rehearsal with adult actors was the next step, followed by a technical rehearsal. This development process, though highly condensed, mirrors what the playwrights might experience in professional American Theater.
