Echo Base Sound System

Echo Base Soundsystem was formed three years ago and, since that time, has been a major part of the experimental music scene in Austin, Texas. The band uses the idea of the dub, an instrumental remix of popular reggae songs developed in Jamaica, to form the basis of their sound. Deep, throbbing bass lines are an omnipresent undercurrent of their music. Members include: Eddie Torres (guitar/balafon), Niko Trevino (bass), Pete Neonakis (rhodes/ms2000 and samples), Phil Hernandez (melodica/microkorg and samples), and Andrew Gerfers (drums and samples).
