Maureen McKay

American soprano Maureen McKay (Pamina) makes her Washington National Opera debut in The Magic Flute.  Also this season, she makes debuts with the Bavarian State Opera in one of her most frequently performed roles, Gretel, in Hänsel und Gretel as well as Cleveland Orchestra for Mahler's Symphony No. 4 and Saito Kinen Festival as Nannetta in Falstaff, both under the baton of Fabio Luisi. While a member Komische Oper Berlin ensemble, she sang Dialogues des carmélites, Hänsel und Gretel, Die Zauberflöte, Der Rosekavalier, Le nozze di Figaro, Don Pasquale, La bohème, and Fidelio.  Other recent engagements include Hänsel und Gretel (Opera Philadelphia, Portland Opera, Tulsa Opera); Una cosa rara and Il re pastore (Opera Theatre of Saint Louis); Cold Sassy Tree (Atlanta Opera); Oklahoma! (Central City Opera); Orphée et Eurydice (Opera Philadelphia); and Die Zauberflöte (Lyric Opera of Kansas City).
