Chuck Milner

As Range Specialist at the Black Kettle National Grasslands, Chuck Milner oversees that park’s cattle grazing program. As rangelands continue to deteriorate, efforts to balance plant communities and livestock numbers are more important than ever.  When he’s not working on problems of cattle overgrazing, Milner has another career as a cowboy singer, poet and storyteller.  Milner uses his songs, poems and stories to serve as a bridge between the Forest Service and the Oklahoma ranching community.  In 2001, Milner original composition, “Doan’s Crossing,” received the Will Rogers Award for Western Music Song of the Year from the Academy of Western Artists.
