The Philadelphia Jazz Orchestra

The Philadelphia Jazz Orchestra is a big band comprised of the best high school and college musicians from the Greater Philadelphia and New Jersey areas. Now in its fifth year of existence, PJO was designed for the purpose of providing students with a meaningful ensemble experience during their time away from school.  The increasing popularity of the group is due to their performances at the Kennedy Center, the legendary Zanzibar Blue, Chris’ Jazz Café, the Steinert High School Jazz Festival and the international tours. This past March PJO opened for the Ravi Coltrane Quartet.The Philadelphia Jazz Orchestra is under the direction of Joe Bongiovi.
