Francesca Jandasek (The Kennedy Center)

Francesca Jandasek

Francesca Jandasek, born in Africa and of Czech descent, loves all of the arts and seeks to share this passion with people of different communities and cultures through teaching, performing and creating. Francesca’s involvement in the Washington, DC dance community has been full and eclectic.  As a dancer and performer, Francesca has worked with Propaganda Dance Theater, CityDance Ensemble, Artefacts Dance, BosmaDance and Santi Budaya (Indonesian Dance).  She has performed and taught nationally and internationally with many of these companies.  In addition to local dance ventures, Francesca had the opportunity to work with Tanec Praha – a charitable organization that exists to enhance and further develop modern dance in the Czech Republic – as part of their International Modern Dance Festival held in Prague.

Francesca Jandasek Acayan, the first recipient of the Local Dance Commissioning Project Fellowship, has choreographed and composed music for Ellesmere. This full evening–length work, set to an original gypsy-influenced acoustic and electronic music score, focuses on a chapter in the life of a changing community (represented by fabulous dancers in pointe shoes and arm stilts).
