11/18/06: Native Voices: Modern Concert Music by American Indian Composers
The University of Mary Washington Wind and Percussion Ensemble presents a concert of works by Barbara Croall (Odawa); Raven Chacon (Navajo); Louis W. Ballard (Quapaw/Cherokee); and Brent Michael Davids (Mohican). The concert will feature the premieres of Croall’s “mewinzha…”—a musical depiction of the Anishinabe creation story—and Chacon’s mysterious “Hasta’aadah.” Presented in cooperation with the National Museum of the American Indian.
