The Players of The Georgetown Quintet:Katrina Smith, flutist, avid educator and freelance musician, holds performance degrees from California State Univeristy, Fresno and the University of Maryland, College Park. She has appeared as performer and conductor with various ensembles in China, Canada and across the United States. Katrina is currently pursuing a doctorate degree at Catholic University where she is a student of Aaron Goldman.Evan R. Solomon, clarinetist, has premiered over 20 original works, many of which were composed for him.

Katrina Smith, flutist, avid educator and freelance musician, holds performance degrees from California State Univeristy, Fresno and the University of Maryland, College Park. She has appeared as performer and conductor with various ensembles in China, Canada and across the United States. Katrina is currently pursuing a doctorate degree at Catholic University where she is a student of Aaron Goldman.

Evan R. Solomon, clarinetist, has premiered over 20 original works, many of which were composed for him. He earned a Bachelors Degree from the Peabody Conservatory as a student of the late Anthony Gigliotti, and a Masters Degree from University of Maryland. Mr. Solomon has performed with the National Symphony, Washington National Opera Orchestra and Eclipse Chamber Orchestra. He is a core member of Inscape Chamber Music Project, and has appeared as soloist and chamber musician at the National Gallery of Art and the J.F. Kennedy Center for the Arts.

Yeon-Jee Sohn, oboist and English horn, received her Bachelor’s degree from Seoul National University and Master’s degree at the Peabody Conservatory. She earned a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of Maryland, where she studied with Mark Hill. As freelance artist, she has performed with the National Philharmonic Orchestra, the Washington Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra, and the Seoul Symphony Orchestra.

Nancy Switkes, bassoonist, performed as orchestra member at the National Gallery of Art, The J.F.Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and Strathmore Hall. With R&B legend Ray Charles, she played bassoon and baritone saxophone at Baltimore’s Artscape in 2001. Her recordings include work as bassoonist/flutist on The Discovery Channel’s 1993 TV documentary “Gis Remember,” and as bassoonist on a recent CD of the works of Jonathan Newmark. Twenty summers at the Chamber Music and Composers’ Forum of the East (Bennington, Vermont) was key to Ms. Switkes’ inspiration to forming The Georgetown Quintet in 2005.

Michael Hall, French horn, a native of Montgomery County, plays principal horn with Montgomery County's own National Philharmonic. He also freelances and teaches horn and piano lessons in the DC-Baltimore area. Michael earned his bachelor's in horn performance at Peabody and his master's at the University of Cincinnati.
