The SAMA Ensemble

Founded by Dr. Ali Analouie, the SAMA Ensemble features four contrasting types of Persian drums (tombak, daf, epic tombak, and damom) in original compositions that utilize a dynamic, exciting call-and response structure, with solos spotlighting the players’ skills. In some works Sufi mystical poetry is recited in English (with simultaneous translation in the original Farsi language.) The group, which also features co-directors Daf Master Naser Khorasani, and Steve Bloom, the only "non-native Iranian" member, has played at Folk Festivals on the National level, and at the United Nations, introduced there to the entire general Assembly and invited dignitaries, by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon.
