John and Susie Beatty Competition for Classical Guitar

Winners of the 4th Annual John and Susie Beatty Competition for Classical Guitar held in Washington, DC, March 12-15, 2010 perform in a recital.  The winner of the best performance of a composition by Heitor Villa-Lobos (sponsored by the Embassy of Brazil) is featured along with the division winners from the Youth, Junior and Senior age groups.  These winners rose to the top of a field of 35 contestants, demonstrating consistent performances, mastery of technique, and moving interpretation. John and Susie Beatty have underwritten this scholarship competition to celebrate and encourage young musicians in the Washington-Baltimore metropolitan area. Judges for the Beatty Competition come from across the United States and are selected for their dedication to music education.
