The Virginia Sil'hooettes

The Virginia Sil'hooettes are an all-female a cappella group at the University of Virginia. Once just the vision of four UVA students in the winter of 1988, the Sil'hooettes are now nationally recognized. Having received numerous all-collegiate awards and critical acclaim over the past 19 years, the group has accumulated years of travel under their belts and has recorded six albums. The group performs everything from 80's pop to Billy Joel to rap medleys and then some. Their current album, Sauce, was nominated for five awards at the 2007 Contemporary A cappella Recording Awards presented by the Contemporary A Cappella Society, including Female Collegiate Album, Female Collegiate Song for “Butterflies & Hurricanes,” Female Collegiate Solo for Jenna Pastuszek on “Careful What You Wish For,” Female Collegiate Arrangement for “Slow Me Down” by Sara Dougadir, and Scholastic Original for “Dance With Me” by Lexi Witman.

The Virginia Sil'hooettes, an all-female a cappella group at the University of Virginia, have received numerous all-collegiate awards and critical acclaim over the past 19 years. Exit 245, an all-male a cappella group from James Madison University, was begun in the fall of 1998 and is named after the exit off I-81 where JMU is located.
