The Plateros (The Kennedy Center)

The Plateros

In the few short years since its inception, The Plateros have worked hard at breaking the mold of Native American blues music, cooking up a unique hybrid of blues, rock, and funk.Levi Platero, a 16-year old from the Eastern Agency of the Navajo Nation, joined The Plateros in 1999, a complement to his family members who were known as musicians within the Tohajiilee Indian Reservation near Albuquerque.  Since joining the group he has taken control of the stage, when the young Mr. Platero plays guitar he takes you to his world of blues; his style is original, personal, and instantly recognizable. After spending much of the last two years recording and touring the US and parts of Canada, The Plateros have earned a reputation as one of the most dynamic and exciting groups on the map.
