Roy Carrier (The Kennedy Center)

Roy Carrier

Real Blues Magazine calls Roy Carrier, "a raw, wild and totally authentic Louisiana bayou zydeco legend." Indeed, Roy was present at the birth of zydeco, playing house parties with his father in Southwest Louisiana, when he was only six years old. By 14, he had formed his first group and there has been a Night Rockers band ever since. Today, Roy is not only the patriarch of an extended family of zydeco musicians that included pioneering cousins, Creole fiddlers Bebe and Calvin Carrier and his two sons, Chubby and Troy (aka Dikku Du), he is the bridge between zydeco's roots and all that it has become today. Roy's signature style is hard-driving, blues-based, authentic zydeco.
