Encore Chorale

Encore Creativity for Older Adults is a nonprofit organization founded in 2007 and dedicated to providing an excellent, accessible, and sustainable artistic environment for older adults, ages 55 and over, regardless of experience or ability, who seek arts education and performance opportunities under professional guidance. Encore Chorale comprises nine chorales from the Washington, D.C. and Baltimore Area, including Goodwin House in Alexandria, Goodwin House in Bailey’s Crossroads, Langston-Brown Senior Center in Arlington, Myerberg Senior Center in Baltimore, the Smithsonian Resident Associates Program, Workhouse Arts Center in Lorton, the Potomac Academy of George Mason University in residence at the Woodlands Retirement Community, the Margaret Schweinhaut Senior Center in Silver Spring, and Anne Arundel Community College in Arnold, Maryland.  The chorales rehearse weekly for fifteen weeks and then perform community concerts at venues that have included the Kennedy Center Millennium Stage, the American Art Museum, the Renwick Gallery, Thomas Jefferson Community Theater in Arlington, White House Conference on Aging, Society for Arts in Healthcare Conference, the American Society on Aging Conference, Arlington Remembers Concert, and at the Embassy of Japan Encore also conducts annual summer choral “sleepaway” camps at St.
