Midwest Young Artists’ Voices Rising

Voices Rising is the children’s choral ensemble established five years ago by Midwest Young Artists, the leading youth-music ensemble program in the Midwest.  Their appearance with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra marks the fourth consecutive year in the annual series of Welcome Yule! holiday performances at Orchestra Hall.  With children selected from the fifth through the eighth grades by audition, the Voices Rising experience is designed to develop vocal and musical skills by seeking excellence in the performance of a wide variety of classical and non-classical musical genres.Under the direction of Gary Fry, the choir made its debut at the Harris Theater in Millennium Park in 2004.  Since then, they have performed for the families of soldiers in Iraq at W.
