Roger Guenveur Smith

Roger Guenveur Smith is a writer, director, and actor who has appeared in film, television, and stage productions. He adapted his Obie Award-winning solo performance of A Huey P. Newton Story into a Peabody Award-winning telefilm. Also among Smith's acclaimed work for the international stage are Christopher Columbus 1992, Iceland, Who Killed Bob Marley?, In Honor of Jean-Michel Basquiat, Two Fires, The Watts Towers Project, and Inside the Creole Mafia. His eclectic range of screen credits also includes Do The Right Thing, for which he created the stuttering hero Smiley, Malcolm X, Get on the Bus, He Got Game, Eve’s Bayou, Deep Cover, Hamlet; and HBO’s Unchained Memories: Readings From the Slave Narratives, K Street, and Oz.
