Before joining the National Symphony, Laurent Weibel played in several orchestras in the United States and in Europe, including the Orchestre de Paris, the Ensemble Intercontemporain, the San Francisco Symphony and Orpheus Chamber Orchestra. He has also appeared as a soloist, performing the Brahms Violin Concerto with the Paris Conservatoire Orchestra at the Cite de la Musique, Brahms Double Concerto at the Festival de Valencay, and Sibelius Concerto with the Stony Brook Symphony Orchestra at the Staller Center For The Arts in New York.A graduate of the Conservatoire National Superieur de Paris, where he studied with Jacques Ghestem, Mr. Weibel also holds a master’s degree in literature from the Sorbonne. In the United States, he studied at the Manhattan School of Music as a Fulbright scholar, and completed his doctoral degree at the State University of New York at Stony Brook, as a student of Mitchell Stern.
